The Plant Operator (Back Hoe) role at Moree Plains Shire Council, located in Moree and falling under the Infrastructure department, is a key position within the Wastewater Team. This is a Permanent - Full Time position that plays a crucial role in the maintenance and development of essential infrastructure within the region.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operating and maintaining backhoe equipment efficiently and safely
  • Undertaking excavation, trenching, and back-filling tasks as required
  • Assisting with general labouring duties when not operating machinery
  • Adhering to workplace health and safety standards at all times
  • Completing daily pre-start checks on machinery to ensure operational readiness
  • Assisting with routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment
  • Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations
  • Following work schedules and plans to meet project deadlines
  • Participating in relevant training as required to maintain proficiency in operating equipment

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Certificate III in Civil Construction or equivalent experience operating and maintaining various types of water and sewer plant and equipment safely.
  • Reliable and self-motivated, with  strong work ethic and a commitment to getting the job done efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, prioritise and meet production deadlines within an environment with minimal supervision and work within a team.
  • Sound literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to keep accurate records including, timesheets, daily running sheets & fuel usage records

Ticket, Licences and Certificates:

  • General Construction Induction Card
  • Current Class MR Drivers Licence
  • Front End Loader/Backhoe Competency

Immunisations required:

  • Ability to provide evidence of vaccination/immunisation for Tetanus, Hepatitis A and B and maintain currency of this throughout your period of employment.
