Communications Specialist, Student Remediation Program
Location: Sydney (or hybrid)
Duration: Initial 6 months (with potential to extend)
Rate: $850 – $1,000 per day (ex-GST)
About the Role
An education company, a client of ICG, is undertaking a major data remediation initiative to correct and validate student and financial information across multiple systems.
We are seeking an experienced Communications Specialist to design and manage all student- and stakeholder-facing messaging across channels — including email, SMS, letters, and phone scripts.
This role is critical to ensuring that every communication is clear, accurate, and compliant, providing students with a professional, empathetic experience while ensuring the institution meets data integrity and reporting standards.
You'll collaborate closely with the remediation team, compliance, and student services functions to ensure that messages are transparent, timely, and effective in driving the required actions from students or internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, refine, and oversee all outbound communications across digital and print channels.
- Translate technical or regulatory requirements into plain-language messages for students and internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a library of approved templates and call scripts.
- Ensure all messaging complies with privacy, data protection, and legal standards.
- Coordinate with operations teams to manage communication schedules and callback processes.
- Track and report communication metrics (delivery, response, resolution).
- Assist in the development of training and guidance for staff managing direct student contact.
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in developing clear and compliant communications within complex organisations (education, financial services, utilities, or similar).
- Strong written communication and editing skills — able to make complex information simple.
- Experience working with compliance, legal, or risk teams.
- Familiarity with multi-channel communications (email, SMS, letter, call scripts).
- Exceptional attention to detail and understanding of confidentiality requirements.
- Must have the right to work in Australia and be able to pass background checks if required.
- Ability to balance tone, professionalism, and empathy in all student or customer communications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with project management tools.
What You'll Work On
- Designing and approving communications to support student data and account corrections.
- Building message templates, FAQs, and escalation scripts.
- Supporting multi-channel outreach campaigns.
- Advising on best-practice tone and sequencing of communications.
- Measuring and improving communication effectiveness.
