Your Opportunity

As the Director, Regional Strategy and Engagement you will be responsible for:

  • Lead and manage the strategy and implementation of initiatives to enhance organisational culture and overall effectiveness by aligning people, processes and strategy that enables the TAFE Queensland North Region to meet its business objectives.
  • Collaborate as a key member of the TAFE Queensland North Region's Executive Leadership Team, contributing to the achievement of the broader TAFE Queensland vision and ensuring the organisation is a market leader in the provision of high-quality education and training in Queensland.

This position reports to the General Manager, North and has close working relationships with all members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity

The position will be based primarily at Cairns however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.

The Total Remuneration Package (TRP)for this role is to be negotiated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a comprehensive organisational development and engagement strategy, leading change management efforts and fostering a positive and innovative culture while collaborating with senior leadership.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the region to ensure high performance which is agile and responsive and which supports the efficient and effective delivery of essential educational, operational and educational support services to the region to drive continuous improvement and strategic alignment.
  • Create a culture of accountability and connectivity across the region, fostering a culture of collaboration, integration and transparency through shared goals.
  • Manage all aspects of the financial budget for the portfolio, including preparation and submission of proposed budget forecasts, ensuring operations align to KPIs and strategic organisational objectives.
  • Identify and assess areas of risk relevant to operations and develop and implement solutions in collaboration with the General Manager, North region and other members of the Executive Leadership Team.
  • In collaboration with Executive Leadership Team, develop and manage positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the region, including individuals and groups within government and non-government organisations, commercial businesses and social enterprises.
  • Ensure appropriate systems and processes are implemented to support teaching and learning in accordance with relevant legislation, regulation and policies.
  • Provide expert advice to the region's General Manager and Executive Leadership Team and senior managers on staff and student support and wellbeing needs and make recommendations on appropriate improvement strategies.
  • Engage with the TAFE Queensland Leadership Network on issues regarding on any aspect of collaboration, organisational development or culture improvements, providing expert advice and support to stakeholders across the network to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Showing Initiative, Working Together, Safety First, Focusing on our Customer and Taking Responsibility.

How you will be assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  1. Demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplinary teams and the ability to set a clear vision and direction in times of change and uncertainty.
  2. Possession of well-developed negotiation, consultative and interpersonal skills as evidenced by the proven ability to influence strategically at a senior level and maintain collaborative working relationships, manage performance and drive a high impact workplace culture.
  3. Demonstrated capacity to think conceptually, innovate and analyse complex situations and lead the development and delivery of high-quality services and business functions which challenge traditional approaches and create competitive advantage in the commercial VET marketplace.
  4. Ability to strategically lead teams to deliver exceptional services across a large organisation, which is innovative and solutions-focussed.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Senior leadership experience in relevant/related setting
  • Current QLD Driver's License
  • Ability to hold Blue Card and Yellow Card: Disability Worker Screening Check

Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of high-level leadership, planning, project management and leadership of multi-disciplinary teams
