Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel's capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future.
Job Summary
In this role, you will report to a Project Leader - New Runway.
You will supervise field engineers and collectively monitor contractor planning, safety, quality, construction, and workplace relations.
You will monitor that the contractor is compliant with project policies, procedures, site rules and procedures, and is performing within specifications and schedules .
Major Responsibilities
Leadership / Supervision
- Engage proactively with field engineers development through competency development/assessment and feedback.
- Monitor that processes and procedures are fully developed and implemented.
Planning / Productivity
- Coordinate activities with other disciplines or areas and technical representatives, as instructed by construction and project management to ensure program delivery priorities are maintained.
- Review all contractor submittials including construction schedules, costs, reports, and changes.
- Prepare and present reports and forecasts, including summaries of construction progress and expenditure forecasts.
- Liaise, support and assist internal stakeholders regarding to onsite project related activities and logistics.
Safety & Quality
- Monitor that project teams are implementing and enforcing policies, procedures and related work rules as established by project management.
- Actively monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements and encourage contractors to perform in a safe manner.
- Monitor work activities and the quality of work performed by the contractor.
- Attend construction toolbox meetings.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge And Skills
- Demonstrated experience in the successful management of major projects in the infrastructure and/or aviation industry.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation and with outside organizations.
- Ability to influence and engage in a collaborative working environment with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness.
- Prior delivery partner or client-side project management experience is preferred but not essential.
- Familiarity with CASA regulations, airport safety protocols, and airside access procedures
- Experience coordinating with aviation authorities, contractors, and engineering consultants
- Ability to interpret Utilities design specs, including lighting systems, and stormwater controls
- Working knowledge of Australian Standards, specifications and codes. Experience in aviation standards (MOS139 in particular) is an advantage.
