An exciting opportunity exists for an Engineering Technician to join Mackay Regional Council's Design Services team.

About This Opportunity
This newly created position provides essential support to the program, assisting with business operations and delivering lower-complexity projects and tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare basic design drawings and cost estimates to support future project development.
  • Amend and update drawings to generate "as-constructed" plans using field data.
  • Interpret and plot basic survey information manually or with CAD software.
  • Manage project documentation efficiently.
  • Assist with general business administration tasks within Design Services.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, residents, and external bodies to resolve design issues and ensure compliance with Council requirements.
  • Prepare basic public consultation drawings for Council projects.
  • Perform other relevant duties as directed by the supervisor.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Trade Certificate (preferred) or other related qualification.
  • Relevant experience in engineering design, drafting, or a similar field.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical drawing skills.
  • Experience using CAD software for engineering design.
  • The ability to interpret survey data and contribute to project planning.
  • Strong organisational and document management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
