"Benella" is a picturesque farm located 35kms from the CBD of Adelaide between Nairne and Woodside which is owned by a well-known local agricultural family.  The property is currently stocked by a mixture of cattle, sheep and thoroughbred horses grazing on a little under 1,000 acres comprising both broad acre and mixed irrigation pastures.

The role

We are currently seeking a Farm Hand to join the close-knit team in an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity. Benella has modern sheep and cattle handling facilities and is EU accredited with full NLIS traceability across sheep and cattle.

The role is varied covering all aspects of livestock husbandry, crop production, dryland grazing, and irrigation whilst offering the potential for career growth.

Responsibilities

With a focus on modern farming techniques, responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with daily farming operations to meet production goals and targets
  • Assist with animal husbandry and management including calving, lambing, marking and weaning
  • Assist with the implementation and execution of irrigation and nutritional programs
  • Operation of farm machinery and equipment, including but not limited to tractors and implements, telehandlers, loaders, lawn mowers, generators, tools and equipment

The Ideal Candidate

The candidate we are looking for will have the following attributes:

  • Experience working with sheep and/or cattle
  • Heavy machinery operation experience is desirable
  • Basic mechanical knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sound practical problem solving skills
  • Sound time management and organisation skills
  • Current drivers licence
