About the role

Interacting Minds PTY LTD. is seeking a talented Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team in Melbourne on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialised behaviour support services to participants, as well as assisting with administrative duties to support the smooth operation of our organisation specifically for your own participants.

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop and implement positive behaviour support plans for participants with complex needs.
  • Provide direct behaviour support services to participants, including conducting assessments, implementing interventions, and monitoring progress.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and effective service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and documentation in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, file management, and scheduling,
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our services and processes.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field, such as psychology, social work, forensic justice or disability studies (other disciplines encouraged to still apply).
  • Minimum 1 year experience in providing behaviour support services to participants under Disability.
  • Experience working in the disability sector or with vulnerable populations.
  • Australian Working with Children Check is required for this position.
  • High level of attention to detail and time management.
  • NDIS registration at any level (Core, Proficient, or Advanced) is required for this Behaviour Support Practitioner role.

Non-essential Requirements:

  • Engagement with High Risk Categorised participants such as participants who present with complex behaviours of concern and/or environmental, legal, or clinical risks. These participants require practitioners with higher levels of skill, supervision, and clinical governance.
  • Previous experience in Complex Needs - Mental Health, self harm / suicide Ideation, substance misuse, comorbidities of needs and / or other at cohorts.

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of positive behaviour support principles and practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor your approach to different stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Proficient in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office suite and client management systems.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting the rights and wellbeing of our participants.

Other daily tasks you may experience:

  • CRM Management: Updating and maintaining participant records, tracking engagement, and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Participant Intake Coordination: Handling referrals, onboarding documents, and initial communications with participants and support networks.
  • Document Management: Organising, filing, and maintaining essential documentation across systems and folders.
  • Booking & Scheduling: Coordinating face-to-face appointments, virtual visits, and internal meetings for clinicians and participants.
  • Administrative Support: Supporting day-to-day tasks including inbox management, calendar coordination, and preparing reports or presentations as required for your own participants.
