About the role:

Our client is seeking a driven and ambitious Project Manager to join their contracting team. In this role, you will work closely with Supervisors, Operations, Production, Technical, Administration, and fellow Project Managers. You will be responsible for leading the planning and delivery of asphalt contracting projects, including major infrastructure works and high-profile contracts across state road, local government, and civil construction markets.

This position carries responsibility for end-to-end project management, including administration, client management, and resource allocation.

  • Manage project-specific Safety, Quality & Environmental requirements.
  • Act as the primary contact for clients, ensuring clear, responsive communication.
  • Contribute to crew scheduling, logistics planning, and contract programming.
  • Manage daily operations, resourcing, quality, and productivity of crews and subcontractors.
  • Conduct pre-start inspections, review plans, and analyse scope, risks, and opportunities.
  • Provide input into tendering and quoting activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with operations, technical, and production teams to deliver strong outcomes and maintain a positive business reputation.

Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar technical discipline).
  • Solid track record in design management, ideally within machinery, automation, or advanced manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design principles and modern engineering software.
  • Strong leadership and team development experience.
  • Proven ability to deliver large-scale, complex projects on time and within budget.
  • A passion for fostering innovation, standardisation, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure, dealing with complexity while prioritising effectively.
