Your Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientist to join our New Product Development (NPD) team. In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for developing and evaluating new ideas that improve coating performance, meet regulatory requirements, and address unmet customer and market needs. You will initially work independently, with the opportunity to transition into a collaborative team environment, reporting to the Technical Manager.
As a Senior Scientist, you will use your technical expertise in coatings technology to design and execute experiments, develop creative solutions, and help translate research into commercially viable products. Your work will directly contribute to the successful launch of innovation projects, ensuring products consistently meet performance, safety, and sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments to develop new coating technologies and improve existing products.
- Translate consumer and market insights into new projects that support growth in traditional and adjacent markets.
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional project teams, including coaching and training team members when required.
- Identify technical risks, develop solutions, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners (e.g. suppliers).
- Ensure compliance with all safety, sustainability, and regulatory requirements while maintaining high product quality standards.

Skills & Experience
- Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related STEM discipline; advanced qualifications are highly regarded.
- Industrial experience in coatings, paints, or related fields, with strong bench chemistry and formulation expertise.
- Proven track record in product development, with knowledge of coatings systems such as polyurethane, epoxy, waterborne, and solvent borne technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage ambiguity, anticipate risks, and deliver innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of experimental design (DoE), sustainability trends, and industry standards is desirable.
