Join the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute (ARMI) at Monash University and take on a prestigious, five-year research-only position as an EMBL Australia Group Leader. This opportunity places you at the forefront of one of the globe's largest regenerative medicine hubs.
Based at our cutting-edge Clayton campus and embedded within the EMBL Australia Partner Laboratory Network, you'll gain access to outstanding infrastructure, long-term funding, and a dynamic international research culture. This role is designed to empower early- to mid-career researchers to launch bold, independent programs, backed by mentorship from the world's leading bioscience minds.
As the successful applicant, you will:
- Lead an innovative research group exploring neural regeneration, contributing to major discoveries in regenerative medicine.
- Drive and publish high-impact research, leveraging your strong national reputation and emerging international profile.
- Supervise a collaborative team of academic and professional staff, while cultivating a vibrant and inclusive lab culture.
- Manage a laboratory budget of up to $3.4 million with strategic oversight of external research funding and governance.
- Represent ARMI and EMBL Australia through active participation in collaborative initiatives including mentoring, training and outreach programs.
To thrive in this role, you'll bring:
- A PhD in a relevant field. Proven record of scientific excellence, originality and research independence.
- Commitment to team science, open, responsible research (FAIR data), and a collaborative mindset.
- A strong track record of publication in top-tier journals and proven ability to attract competitive research funding.
- A passion for mentoring emerging researchers and contributing to a globally connected research network.

About EMBL Australia
The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is an intergovernmental organisation dedicated to molecular biology research and is supported by 29-member states, two prospect member states, and one associate member state - Australia.
A key initiative of the associate membership is the 'EMBL Australia Partner Laboratory Network', a partnership of leading Australian host institutions that provide long-term, funded, research-only positions for early to mid-career researchers to pursue ambitious research programs. It aims to seed a dynamic, highly collaborative culture across Australia, conducting research of the highest international standing.
The successful candidate will have a strong motivation to collaborate across the Partner Laboratory Network, grasping the opportunity to interact with other research groups across the EMBL Australia community and to contribute to national and international training and outreach events.

About The Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute
Established through a joint venture between Monash University and the Victorian Government, the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute (ARMI) builds on the University's existing strengths in biomedical research and supports the critical infrastructure required to deliver the next generation of discoveries in regenerative medicine. ARMI is located at one of the world's largest regenerative medicine and stem cell research centres, at the Clayton campus. Its scientists are focused on unravelling the basic mechanisms of the regenerative process with ultimate goal of halting and reversing damage to vital organs due to disease, injury, or genetic conditions.
