What You'll Be Doing
As our client's Cloud Team Lead, you will be a key player in their technology leadership team. Looking for someone who is experienced across AWS/GCP Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and Mentoring: Lead, manage, and mentor a diverse cloud platform team, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. You'll empower team members while providing the guidance they need to grow and succeed.
- Driving Agile Practices: Embed established Agile/SCRUM delivery practices, ensuring clear outcomes and effective management of evolving priorities through collaboration with engineers, tech leads, and stakeholders.
- Performance and Improvement: Guide performance benchmarking and improvement initiatives, using data and feedback to drive measurable improvements in team velocity and platform reliability.
- Technical Expertise: Act as a subject matter expert for senior stakeholders and team members, providing strategic insight and technical expertise across cloud architecture, security, cost optimisation, and modern delivery practices.
- Operational Excellence: Develop and maintain a robust body of operational knowledge, including up-to-date documentation and runbooks, to ensure continuity and operational excellence.
- Delivering Cloud Services: Deliver scalable foundational and shared cloud services, enabling internal consumers to adopt the cloud more effectively and autonomously.
- Incident Management: Lead the resolution of technical issues and incidents, coordinating across teams to ensure timely and effective remediation.
- Security and Compliance: Facilitate the uplift of cloud security and compliance by embedding security practices into the team's ways of working, aligning with the broader technology strategy and regulatory requirements (e.g., APRA, data privacy).
- Cost Management: Own cloud cost management and optimisation, including ongoing analysis, reporting, and recommendations to senior management.
- Capacity Planning: Perform ongoing capacity planning for both project delivery and business-as-usual (BAU) operations, ensuring the team is effectively resourced.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant technical experience or at least 2-3 years in a Team Leader or mentorship role within a similar environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical issues to diverse audiences.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with a customer-focused approach and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising technical teams, with a track record of coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.
- Strong capability in creating, documenting, and continuously improving operational policies and processes.
- Experience with AWS is essential.
- Experience with GCP is a significant advantage.
Preferred:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry certifications related to core infrastructure, cloud, or security.
- Experience working within Agile project management frameworks.
