About the College
Waverley College, established in 1903, is a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition catering for boys from Years 5-12 across two campuses in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. The College is committed to developing innovative learning, formation and wellbeing programs that enable young men to flourish across their spiritual, cognitive, social, emotional, cultural, and physical dimensions.
The Role
The Director of Student Wellbeing is a key member of the College Leadership Team and reports to the Principal (through the Deputy Principal Students). This role provides strategic leadership of student wellbeing, formation, pastoral care and safety across Years
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic leadership of student wellbeing, formation, pastoral care across Years 5-12.
- Lead and mentor the Student Wellbeing Team and Heads of House to deliver consistent care and support.
- Implement and evaluate the College's Wellbeing Framework and support student leadership and transition programs.
- Foster a safe, inclusive and respectful environment, supporting student groups and celebrating diversity.
- Oversee student management policies and practices, including attendance, behaviour and pastoral case management.
- Collaborate with psychologists, allied health professionals and families to support student needs.
- Ensure compliance with child protection, WHS, safeguarding legislation and liaising with external agencies where necessary.
- Promote the values of a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition, strengthening identity, social justice and community partnerships.
- Work closely with the Teaching & Learning Team to align wellbeing with student achievement.
- Contribute to the College Leadership Team, modelling integrity, vision and collaboration.
The successful candidate will be:
- An exceptional leader with experience in pastoral care, wellbeing, and student formation.
- Skilled in policy development, compliance, and risk management.
- An outstanding communicator who builds strong relationships and fosters inclusion.
- Knowledgeable in contemporary research on adolescent development and boys' education.
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition.
- Appropriately qualified, with eligibility to teach in NSW and current NESA accreditation.
