Location: Hoppers Crossing based

About the role
Reporting to the Team Leader Open Space Maintenance, you, as part of the Open Space team, will participate in horticulture and targeted parks maintenance tasks.
This role will see you taking the next step up in your career by leading and directing the day-to-day tasks of a small crew. This is a great opportunity to showcase your skills and experience while also helping develop others in the team.
What your day will look like
· Maintaining trees, gardens, parks, sporting fields, plantation drains and/or road reserves
· Understanding and working to the schedule set by Team Leader and Leading Hand
· Taking responsibility for the care of plant, tools and equipment
· Eradicating weeds by both manual and chemical techniques
· Basic public infrastructure cleansing
· Ensuring works are undertaken in a safe manner
What you will bring
· Horticulture Certificate or equivalent with related industry experience. (essential)
· Experience and skills in weed/plant identification. (essential)
· Ability to work with other employees and deal with the public in a courteous manner. (essential)
· Experience in use and maintenance of small plant. (essential)
· Ability to take instructions and fulfill directives to ensure allocated daily tasks are met. (essential)
· First Aid Certificate (Level 1/2). (preferred but not essential)
· Roadside safety training. (preferred but not essential)
· Chemical Users Certificate. (preferred but not essential)
· Licence to drive a motor vehicle and truck (up to 13.9T). (preferred)
· Experience in supervision of staff / contractors. (preferred)
