Your New Role

As Corporate Communications Manager, you'll lead Development Victoria's corporate, digital and internal communications strategy. Reporting to the Director, Communications and Community Engagement, you'll manage a team of specialists to deliver innovative, impactful content that promotes our brand, supports our strategic objectives, and engages stakeholders across government, industry and the community. You will oversee media, digital channels, internal communications, and brand consistency, while supporting executive visibility and driving best practice communication across the organisation.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Develop and deliver the overarching corporate communications strategy.
  • Lead media, digital, graphic design and internal communications functions.
  • Provide people leadership to a team of five, including performance and development planning.
  • Champion Development Victoria's brand identity and embed values across all communications.
  • Oversee creation of engaging content across web, social media, video, speeches and publications.
  • Manage internal communications planning and delivery to support organisational culture and priorities.
  • Promote Development Victoria's work through sponsorships, awards and industry relationships.
  • Implement proactive media and digital strategies to protect and enhance Development Victoria's reputation.
  • Manage Development Victoria's digital channels including website, intranet and social media.
  • Support executive visibility through speaking opportunities and strategic messaging.
  • Provide strategic advice aligned with government priorities and Development Victoria's objectives.
  • Manage budgets, procurement and external agencies to ensure value for money.
  • Lead, motivate and develop team members to deliver business outcomes.

About You

  • Bachelor degree or postgraduate degree in journalism, public relations, communications or a relevant discipline
  • Extensive experience in a senior communications and engagement role, preferably within a government organisation
  • Experience in a complex, dynamic operating environment
  • Significant experience independently managing and providing strategic advice on corporate and digital communications
  • Ability to lead a team responsible for the creation of content and management of digital/online channels
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills including the ability to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels
  • Demonstrated political nous, with an appreciation of complex often competing priorities and the sensitivities associated in working with the government and an understanding of the organisation's current and future role
  • Track record of action-orientation and the ability to deliver in a complex organisational context with competing demands
