As Executive Officer, you will:
• Steer MAWA's strategic direction and champion mathematics education across WA.
• Help deliver fresh, impactful services for our members.
• Lead and support a small, dedicated team.
• Work closely with the MAWA Board to deliver our mission and uphold strong governance.
This role is ideal for a dynamic leader with a background in secondary mathematics education, a growth mindset, and experience driving change in a school, system, or education organisation.
Key Responsibilities
• Shape and deliver the strategic direction of MAWA's program, partnerships and member services.
• Build strong, influential relationships with stakeholders, government bodies and the wider education sector.
• Lead and inspire a small, dedicated team to deliver innovative and impactful professional learning, events and resources.
• Manage and grow student activities, with a particular focus on successfully coordination, expansion, and teacher support of the MAWA Problem Solving Program.
• Support the MAWA Board in maintaining compliance and upholding good governance.
• Champion MAWA's reach, influence and reputation across WA and nationally.
• Drive membership growth and engagement through responsive, high-quality offerings.
• Oversee financial operations in partnership with the Board, ensuring strong budgeting, reporting, and sustainability.
You are someone who:
• Has demonstrated leadership experience in a school, system, or education organisation.
• Communicates with impact — in writing, speaking, and advocacy.
• Understands how membership-based organisations operate, with experience in governance and working alongside boards or committees.
• Is passionate about inclusive, engaging approaches to mathematics education.
• Brings business acumen and strategic thinking to drive organisational growth.
• Enjoys building and leading teams to deliver events, programs, and initiatives and is committed to working flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends to ensure their success.
• Builds genuine, trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Thrives in a flexible, proactive environment and is energised by opportunities to make a real difference.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a respected and influential professional association with a proud history of supporting mathematics educators across WA. The role of Executive Officer offers the chance to shape the future of mathematics teaching, contribute to systemic improvements, and collaborate with a passionate community of educators and leaders.
This position is for 3 years with possibility for extension commencing in February 2026.
MAWA supports flexible working arrangements, combining time in the office with remote work. Please note that this is not a fully remote role.
