You'll be joining us in a part-time role on a fixed-term contract through to 30 June 2026, with potential for extension. As our playgroup assistant you'll play a key role in creating welcoming, engaging, and supportive experiences for children and families. This role is all about bringing fun, learning, and connection to life through playgroup activities, community programs, and crèche support; making a real difference in the early years of children's development while supporting parents and carers to engage meaningfully with their little ones.

What you'll be doing:

As our Playgroup Assistant, you'll be hands-on in creating a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for children and families. You'll plan and run engaging playgroup activities, including Play in the Park sessions and occasional crèche support, while encouraging parents to join in and role model positive interactions with their children. Part of your role will include keeping accurate records and reports, maintaining playgroup equipment, and ensuring the space is clean, safe, and stimulating in line with the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards. You'll also play an active role in keeping the environment hazard-free, following YMCA WA health and safety policies, and working closely with the Play at the Park Coordinator as well as other community stakeholders.   • Have current National Police Clearance and Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain
  • Have experience delivering engaging activities for families with young children
  • Have background in program development and implementation
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are confident with basic computer skills and record-keeping
  • Have effective time management with the ability to prioritise tasks and work independently
  • Have Certificate III in Children's Services (or relevant experience) – desirable
  • Have previous community-based experience – desirable
