As the Diverse Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will play a crucial role in driving strategies, programs, and initiatives that promote the attraction, development, and retention of First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse peoples at the AFL.

This role is based in Melbourne, within the People & Culture Team and would suit a results-driven individual with experience in human resources or recruitment.

The AFL considers that identifying as an Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s 28 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).
DAY IN THE LIFE - What you'll be responsible for
Talent Attraction

  • Lead the development and implementation of initiatives to increase diverse representation at the AFL.
  • Support hiring leaders through the tailored recruitment processes for diverse applicants.
  • Build and maintain a robust talent pipeline and train hiring leaders on inclusive recruitment practices.
  • Work with People Business Partners to identify targeted departments and roles for First Nations and culturally diverse candidates.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, both internal (People Team, hiring leaders) and external (candidates, community organizations, universities, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander organizations).

Engagement & Retention

  • Implement and monitor a range of culturally inclusive hiring practices, with attention to onboarding processes and targeted career mentoring.
  • Coordinate the AFL's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team member network.
  • Support the implementation of the organisations's cultural growth framework including cultural capability training.

Career Development

  • Build a talent pathway through the AFL Graduate Program, and other employment opportunities.
  • Increase opportunities in existing AFL development programs and develop targeted learning & development initiatives for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander team members.
  • Identify future talent in collaboration with leaders and the People Team and establish internal systems and processes to track and support these team members.

MUST HAVES – what's needed to help you be successful

  • A strong track record in human resources or recruitment
  • Experience in implementing diversity strategies that prioritise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills including the ability to influence, and build strong, productive relationships across the business and externally
  • Passionate and self-driven with a high level of initiative – strong focus the execution of high-quality outputs
  • To be able to work autonomously and be self-driven
  • An excellent work ethic, a desire for continue learning and drive to deliver outcomes
