Location: Kensington, Western Australia

Under the guidance (Level 4) or limited direction (Level 5) of the Senior Land Acquisition Officer this position:

Undertakes land acquisition tasked associated with the operational needs of the Department or for the provision of environmental offsets, including the identification, assessment, nomination, negotiation and purchase of fee simple land.

Work to achieve land tenure outcomes required through agreements entered into by the Department with third parties.

As part of the Land Services Unit attend to land tenure enquiries, proposals and priorities as determined by the Senior Land Acquisition Officer and other senior staff.

Selection Criteria

  1. Working knowledge (L4) or demonstrated experience (L5) in land acquisition and conveyancing, including policies and procedures, particularly in relation to Government land acquisition and property industry project management.
  2. A demonstrated detailed knowledge (L4) or understanding (L5) of applicable legislation, policies, programs and practices for acquiring legal interests in land with a focus on conserving biodiversity in Western Australia through the selective acquisition of fee simple land.
  3. Demonstrated ability (L4) or experience (L5) in coordinating land proposals involving State, local or Commonwealth Government entities, private sector proponents and the public.
  4. Working knowledge (L4) or demonstrated experience (L5) of the Environmental Protection Act 1986, Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016, the Commonwealth Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 in relation to the statutory environmental approval processes and implementation of approval conditions. (DESIRABLE).
