Pyrmont, New South Wales, Australia The Star Entertainment Group Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

For two decades, The Star Sydney has been a local landmark, deeply ingrained in Pyrmont and Darling Harbour. Committed to our communities, we strive to create fun in trusted destinations as Australia's premier entertainment hub. The Darling, and state-of-the-art venues including The Star Event Centre and The Lyric Theatre have hosted prestigious events and international acts. With extraordinary dining options, including Sokyo, BLACK Bar and Grill, Cucina Porto and our vibrant Sports Bar where the action is live and loud, we are dedicated to delivering the ultimate entertainment, hospitality, and dining experiences for all.

This role is a blend of strategy and delivery: designing talent strategies, leading employer branding initiatives, and driving recruitment innovation — while ensuring timely, high-quality hiring across our growing network. You will report to the General Manager People Operations and will work in close collaboration with our property-based leaders. You'll oversee a small but high-performing team while remaining hands-on with recruitment for senior, critical, and hard-to-fill roles.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a people leader to inspire and manage our Talent Acquisition function, driving excellence across all recruitment touchpoints within our Sydney Star property.

A few of your responsibilities

  • Lead the Talent Acquisition team to ensure high levels of team engagement providing learning, developing and stretch opportunities
  • Partner with leaders to forecast workforce demand, build pipelines, and deliver proactive sourcing strategies.
  • Work collaboratively to design and deliver Star Sydney's talent acquisition strategy in alignment with workforce and our projected growth priorities.
  • Develop and maintain strategic sourcing partners including learning institutions, RTOs, Hotel Schools and Universities to ensure a robust sourcing pipeline, participating in events and representing The Star and showcasing our Employment Brand.
  • Champion an exceptional candidate experience across all recruitment touchpoints.
  • Lead the execution of onboarding learning delivery and operations for Property, ensuring the effective facilitation of learning programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring the team support conformance to all onboarding requirements to enable compliance with legislation including Casino Control Act (CCA) QLD and NSW, plus associated Internal Control Manual (ICM) / Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) requirements.

What we are looking for

  • Proven leadership experience managing diverse teams across high-volume, compliance-heavy, and specialised recruitment areas
  • Background in hospitality or retail, with exposure to government, or large corporate environments - bringing relatable and adaptable insights is desirable
  • Skilled in building talent pipelines through partnerships with industry groups, educational institutions, and confidently represent our brand at events and expos.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior executives.
  • Proven capability in employer branding, EVP development, and recruitment marketing.
  • Confident in analysing recruitment data and translating insights into strategy
  • A genuine people person who believes in our mission and values, and brings a positive, human-centered approach to talent acquisition.

About you

You're a proven Talent Acquisition leader that has a deep understanding of sourcing channels and success in executing proactive recruitment campaigns is complemented by your ability to build and maintain strong talent pipelines. You are a hands-on, people-focused leader who is adaptable, resilient, and commercially aware.

You've previously led talent acquisition functions or worked in a similar HR environment, with hands-on experience in succession planning, retention strategies, and managing applicant tracking systems like PageUp. Your strategic mindset and operational expertise make you a trusted partner in driving recruitment excellence.

What we can offer you

  • Complimentary meal on site every day including hot meals, sandwich bar and more
  • A collaborative, supportive People & Culture team.
  • Exposure to both strategic and operational recruitment leadership.
  • Employer branding, talent strategy, and workforce planning projects.
  • Flexible working arrangements (hybrid available).
  • Up to 30% discounts across award winning restaurants and accommodation
  • Endless career growth and opportunities to learn and develop your career
  • Diversity & Inclusion areas of focus including Multicultural, Gender, Aboriginal & Torres Strait islander and LGBTQI+
  • Discounted parking available in the city
  • An organisation that values diversity, teamwork and being your best self

Please be aware that eligibility checks are required as part of the recruitment process and ongoing employment for this position.
