About the role

Phillip Island Winery is seeking a driven and experienced Venue Manager to oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations of our winery and hospitality venue. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for managing a team of hospitality professionals and ensuring the smooth running of all front-of-house and back-of-house operations. The successful candidate will work on-site at our beautiful winery location in Ventnor, Phillip Island.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the winery hospitality operation, including staffing, customer service, inventory management, and financial management of our 200-capacity dining and event offering, cellar door and retail space.
  • Lead and motivate a team of hospitality professionals, including front-of-house, back-of-house, administrative and groundskeeping staff
  • Oversee the planning and execution of events, functions, and customer experiences
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and licensing regulations
  • In conjunction with venue owners and management team, develop and implement strategies to enhance the customer experience and increase venue profitability
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators to support business growth

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a venue management or hospitality leadership role
  • Proven track record of successfully managing a team and driving operational excellence
  • Strong understanding of food and beverage service, inventory management, and financial reporting
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere
  • Knowledge of liquor licensing requirements and experience in ensuring compliance
  • Passion for the wine and hospitality industry
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
