Development Assessment Engineering Officer (Technical)

Location: Western Sydney, NSW

Contract: Temporary, Full-time (3 Nov Jan 2026)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (37.5 hrs/week)

A large NSW council is seeking a qualified Development Assessment Engineering Officer (Technical) to join their Development Assessment team on a temporary contract.

In this role, you will assess development application referrals with a focus on drainage and flooding, provide technical support, and ensure compliance within agreed KPIs. You'll also maintain accurate records across council systems and liaise with a wide range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess development application referrals (drainage and flooding).
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the development assessment team.
  • Maintain records and data using TechOne, CM9 and GIS.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders; deliver high-quality customer service.
  • Monitor and record DA referrals and contribute to engineering processes.
Skills & Experience
  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience assessing Development Applications in a council environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong time management, organisation and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience using TechOne, CM9 and GIS.

Desirable: Knowledge of NSW Planning Portal, DCPs and Local Government Act.
