About the role

The Placement Services team are not a recruitment team (but we are close). We are a small team of 8 and provide transactional services including advertising roles, preparing shortlists, offers and onboarding to support the hiring process for unsworn roles across NSW Police.  The roles we hire in NSW Police are unique; from administration assistants to pilots; dog handlers to musicians and everything in between

We have an opportunity for aSenior Placements Officer  to be part of our Placement Services, HR Transactional Services, Shared Servicesteam. The Senior Placements Officer delivers civilian recruitment, assignment, mobility and contingent labour services, support, advice and governance to the NSW Police Force in relation to recruitment submissions and processes. The role also provides support to Placement Officers in the delivery of recruitment activities to the NSW Police Force.

We are entering an exciting time with a new applicant tracking system occurring over the next 9+ months and other continuous improvement activities, you will provide input to the success of these activities.

Supporting a process where most selection activities are completed by hiring managers, the Senior Placements Officer is a pivotal partner in assisting these hiring managers to navigate the requirements of our internal processes and legislative requirements.   You will provide key advice on the internal recruitment process in a friendly and professional manner.

In addition to being a trusted advisor and building relationships, you will also perform several key activities including but not limited to:

Offer and Onboarding:

  • Preparing and issuing offers of employment
  • Liaising closely with payroll and other teams to ensure a smooth onboarding process

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Conducting documentation and quality assurance checks for hiring documents and contingent labour requests
  • Conducting quality checks for contingent labour requests, system access requests, volunteers, and vendor onboarding

Project Work and Driving Continuous Improvement:

  • Work to deliver key project initiatives as required
  • Generate new ideas and better ways of working
  • Attending bulk recruitment campaigns and other promotional events as needed

This role may also require you to work very occasional weekends and travel regionally once or twice a year as needed to attend recruitment campaigns and community events.

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in end-to-end recruitment as a recruiter/or in an assistant support role.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to provide confident advice and support.
  • Knowledge of GSE Legislation/NSW Police recruitment rules and Government recruitment practices will be highly advantageous.
  • Experience using ATS and other recruitment software (eg Success Factors, Service Now, Taleo).
  • An embracer of technology and experience in system implementation and/or project related experience highly regarded.
  • Continuous improvement experience and willingness to challenge the status quo.
