The Enrolled Nurse will provide wound care for a client with a bunion-related wound and another wound (4–5 cm) in accordance with clinical best practice, infection control standards, and the care plan. The role includes wound assessment, dressing changes, monitoring for signs of infection, and proper documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wound Care:
  • Assess and clean wound site using aseptic technique.
  • Apply appropriate dressings as per care plan and wound management protocol.
  • Monitor wound healing progress and report any changes or concerns to the Registered Nurse.
  • Escalate complex or deteriorating wounds to the supervising RN or GP.
  • Infection Control & PPE:
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (gloves, mask, apron/gown) during wound care.
  • Follow strict hand hygiene and infection control procedures.
  • Dispose of waste and sharps safely in compliance with workplace policies.
  • Clinical Documentation:
  • Accurately document wound assessment, treatment provided, and any observations.
  • Maintain records of dressing changes and communicate updates to the care team.
  • Client Care & Communication:
  • Educate client (and family, if applicable) on wound care and prevention of complications.
  • Promote comfort, dignity, and safety during care.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and within the Enrolled Nurse scope of practice.
  • Participate in case discussions and care reviews as required.
