Melbourne Victoria Australia Ideally Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

We're looking for a Consumer Insights AI Specialist to join us at Ideally. Someone who has a love for experimenting with data, using AI, and pushing the boundaries of consumer research.

You'll be joining a talented team of product and research specialists working to refine and innovate our AI-driven consumer insights platform.

A bit about Ideally

At Ideally, we're not just building a product, we're disrupting an industry. Our platform helps brands, marketers, and innovation teams bring the voice of the consumer into the earliest stages of their ideas, building confidence and momentum in their work. By enabling quick testing and iteration, we empower brands to move faster, reduce risk, and deliver ideas with impact.

Some of our clients include brands like Asahi, Google, Afterpay, Dentsu, and Frucor, we're proud to be one of New Zealand's fastest-growing start-ups, recently named Marketing Technology of the Year by both Mumbrella and B&T.

But we're just getting started. With offices in Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, and plans for the US in 2025, we're on a mission to take Ideally global.

Position Overview

As our Consumer Insights AI Specialist, your primary goal is to deliver relevant, accurate, and actionable insights each time customers engage with our platform. In this role, you will support our internal research team by streamlining the data-to-insight process while also enabling users to conduct deeper, more independent analyses. Because AI-powered insights are native to our product—thanks to LLMs—they're integral to the overall customer experience, not just an add-on.

To achieve this, you will shape how our AI models interpret and respond to consumer research challenges. You'll design experiments, build prompts and agents, and refine data interpretation methods to ensure sharper, more actionable insights that guide marketing decisions. Your work will directly influence how we understand consumer data and will help us continuously improve our insights platform.

We've developed an internal interface that allows non-engineers to gather and analyze data using LLMs and other modern AI technologies. Your role involves developing the analytical approach, prompts, and validating outputs.

We're looking for someone who's comfortable breaking new ground and creating our own playbooks, as much of what we're doing has never been done before.

The role location is Australia, but we would be open to consider Auckland as the base for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Shape & Refine AI Insights: Collaborate with our team to learn how to use and improve AI tools for analyzing consumer survey data. By exploring new prompt and agent approaches, you'll help turn raw information into meaningful insights, while continually finding ways to enhance accuracy and relevance.
  • Experimentation & Innovation: Design, execute, and evaluate experiments that challenge traditional research approaches, iterating on analytical methods to uncover deeper consumer insights. Document findings and integrate lessons learned into ongoing AI initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Development, Research, and Product teams to expand the AI interface's capabilities. Gather feedback, troubleshoot issues, and recommend feature enhancements to ensure our platform evolves with user needs.
  • Ownership of AI Outputs: Oversee all AI-generated deliverables, ensuring they meet customer objectives and maintain high quality. Establish best practices for leveraging AI within the platform, balancing innovation with consistent, accurate outputs.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Participate in QA/QC processes for raw respondent data, implementing checks and protocols to maintain data integrity from initial collection through final insight generation.

Requirements

  • Market Research Experience: At least two years in a market research agency or similar environment, demonstrating proficiency in research objective definition, data interpretation, and insight generation.
  • Experimentation & Communication Skills: Proven ability to design, conduct, and iterate on data experiments, communicating methodologies and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • AI Awareness: An interest in or exposure to AI concepts (such as LLMs, Retrieval Augmented Generation, and agent frameworks), with a willingness to explore emerging trends and methodologies.
  • Web Development Awareness: A basic understanding—or an eagerness to learn—fundamental web development principles to collaborate effectively with development teams and support a seamless user experience.
  • Detail-Oriented & Innovative: A passion for problem-solving and lateral thinking, ensuring potential challenges are identified early and solutions are developed to maintain high-quality insights.

Working at Ideally

We have a team of 35 (and growing) and you'll be working within one of our great offices in Melbourne or Auckland sharing ideas around and having fun. We have an office first culture to foster connection and creativity with flexibility to support everyone's personal situation.

For remuneration we offer competitive start-up salaries, ESOP arrangements, and other benefits such as a day off on your birthday.
