Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to provide assistance and support to individuals with disabilities in Canberra. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for clients by helping them with daily living activities, providing emotional support, and promoting independence and community integration. This casual role offers a competitive pay rate of 40-45 AUD per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients
  • Help clients with mobility and transportation needs
  • Administer medication and monitor health conditions
  • Assist with meal preparation and household tasks
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure the best possible care for clients
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation

Qualifications:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability or Aged Care) or Certificate III in Disability Support or related field
  • Diploma in Community Services preferred
  • Experience in the disability support sector, particularly in Supported Independent Living (SIL) and in-home care (IHC) settings
  • Experience assisting with community access, transport, and social participation
  • Fluency in Auslan is highly regarded
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor
  • Ability to handle challenging behaviors and situations
  • Knowledge of disability rights and advocacy
