Richmond VIC, Australia REA Group Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year
  • Join an organisation with a thriving culture centred around high performance and care

We're REA

With bold and ambitious goals, REA Group is changing the way the world experiences property. No matter where you're at on your property journey, we're here to help with every step - whether that's finding or financing your next home.

Our people are the key to our success. At the heart of everything we do, is a thriving culture centred around high performance and care. We are purpose driven and collaborative, which drives innovation and our ability to make a real impact. As such, we're proud to have been named in Australia's "Top 5" Best Workplaces two years in a row, as well as being recognised as a Best Workplace for Women.

Where the team fits in

This role sits within our Realtair business unit. Join our Projects team and lead the engineering behind the content that powers Realtair Sign and Realtair Pitch. You'll be managing the team responsible for delivering the template libraries that real estate professionals rely on every day.You will drive the team that enables thousands of agents to create professional, compliant, and beautifully branded documents at scale. Your team ensures that every contract, pitch presentation, and marketing material meets state compliance requirements while reflecting each agency's unique identity. As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead a talented squad delivering sophisticated content management solutions while developing engineers who take pride in their craft. You'll balance the technical challenges of dynamic templating, and content delivery with the people leadership that builds high-performing teams. This is your opportunity to drive both technical innovation and team excellence in a product area that's fundamental to our customers' daily success.

What the role is all about

  • Shape and deliver the technical strategy, ensuring system health, engineering quality, and alignment with our tech vision.
  • Lead solution design, contribute to product strategy, and guide adoption of best practices (design patterns, clean code, TDD).
  • Own your team's systems end-to-end ("You Own It, You Run It"), ensuring reliability and effective incident response.
  • Manage and develop 5–8 engineers (up to 12 with partner teams), driving performance, growth, and engagement.
  • Recruit top talent, onboard new team members, and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Deliver against the product roadmap, using Agile practices, tracking progress, and managing dependencies.

Who we're looking for

You're an experienced engineering leader who builds high-performing teams and delivers exceptional technical outcomes. You're equally energized by solving complex technical challenges as you are by developing engineers and fostering a culture of excellence.

You lead through influence and expertise. You've scaled engineering teams, mentored developers from junior to senior levels, and created environments where people do their best work. You're hands-on enough to guide technical decisions and review architecture, yet strategic enough to align your team's work with broader organizational goals.

You thrive in product-driven environments where delivery pace matters as much as technical quality. You've implemented Agile practices that actually work, navigated complex dependencies across teams, and maintained system reliability even as you ship rapidly. You know when to refactor and when to ship, when to build and when to buy.

Above all, you're a leader who creates clarity from ambiguity, turns talented individuals into cohesive teams, and consistently delivers outcomes that drive the business forward. You see people development and technical excellence as complementary, not competing priorities.

Some of these things might push you out of your comfort zone or you might be looking at this thinking you can absolutely flourish in this role… Whatever you think, we think you should throw your hat in the ring
