Electrician

Position Summary

The Full-Time Service Electrician will be a critical part of our Managed Service team, responsible for providing expert electrical installation, maintenance, repair, and fault-finding services across our diverse portfolio of client sites (commercial, industrial, and sometimes residential). This role requires a strong focus on customer service, regulatory compliance, and efficient resolution of electrical issues to minimise client downtime.

Key Responsibilities

Service, Maintenance, and Repair

• Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections on client electrical systems, switchboards, lighting, and machinery to ensure continuous operation and compliance.
• Conduct complex fault finding and diagnosis of electrical malfunctions, outages, and equipment failures using various testing devices and technical drawings.
• Execute immediate, high-quality corrective maintenance and repair works on electrical components, wiring, and fixtures.
• Participate in an on-call rotation (if applicable) to provide emergency reactive services outside of normal business hours.

Installation and Project Work

• Install, test, and commission new electrical apparatus, fixtures, equipment, and wiring systems (e.g., lighting, power outlets, conduits, data cabling, control systems).
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan and execute installation layouts safely and accurately.
• Coordinate with other trades, contractors, and internal MSP teams (e.g., IT, Security) on integrated client projects.

Compliance and Documentation

• Ensure all electrical work strictly adheres to current National Electrical Codes (e.g., AS/NZS 3000), state, and local building regulations.
• Complete all necessary Certificates of Compliance (CoC), Electrical Work Certificates, and work reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain meticulous records of maintenance, repairs, installations, and materials used within the company's Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or internal job management software.
• Adhere to all Work Health and Safety (WHS/OSHA) standards, including the use of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).

Client and Team Interaction

• Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting directly with clients, clearly explaining issues and proposed solutions.
• Provide electrical expertise and advice to clients and internal staff.
• Manage job sites, including material procurement, resource coordination, and ensuring a clean and safe work area.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Essential Licensure:
• Electrical Trade Certificate / Journeyman Electrician License (or local equivalent).
• Valid Driver's License.
• WHS General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or equivalent.
• Experience:
• Proven experience as a Service Electrician, preferably within a facility maintenance, commercial, or MSP environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in fault finding, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance across commercial and industrial electrical systems.
• Technical Skills:
• Thorough knowledge of relevant electrical codes and safety procedures.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical blueprints and schematics.
• Proficiency in using a wide range of electrical and hand tools, testing equipment (e.g., voltmeters, continuity testers).
• Soft Skills:
• Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and technical reporting.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively across multiple job sites.

Desirable Qualifications (Bonus Points)

• Electrical Contractor License.
• High-Risk Work Licenses (e.g., Elevated Work Platform/EWP, Working at Heights).
• Data/Communications Cabling Registration (e.g., ACRS/Austel).
• Experience with Building Management Control Systems (BMCS) or PLC systems.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $35.16 – $67.77 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
