Company Description

YGF Manufacturing is a turnkey food, beverage and supplement manufacturing service. We offer new product development, packaging and website design, manufacturing, and after manufacturing support through our business coaching services. We are after a Food Technologist to come in and as part of our NPD team to help create new food products for our clients.

This is a full-time role in either Sydney or Melbourne. Remote candidates must be in either of these cities.

Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Food Technologist at YGF Manufacturing. The Food Technologist will be responsible for conducting sensory evaluations, utilizing food technology, applying laboratory skills, ensuring quality control, and participating in Research and Development (R&D) activities as part of our NPD team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Development: Lead the formulation and development of a wide range of food products, including spreads, protein bars, energy balls, sauces, powder blends, TGA listed products, and, drinks, from concept to market.

  • Ideation to Commercialization: Drive the end-to-end development process for new products, from ideation through formulation, testing, manufacturing, and market launch (2-5 years of experience required).

  • Ingredient Expertise: Apply deep knowledge of ingredient functionality, flavor profiles, and textures to create innovative, high-quality, and functional products.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all products meet food safety and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, FSANZ). Experience with TGA-compliant products is desirable.

  • Testing and Trials: Conduct sensory evaluations, stability testing, and nutritional analysis to validate product quality and shelf life.

  • Innovation: Research and apply emerging trends, technologies, and ingredients to stay ahead in the market.

  • Inventory: Managing and maintaining our growing list of ingredients we use across different product categories, and working with the Ops team to ensure up to date inventory records.

  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including product specifications, labeling, and regulatory submissions.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience in product development for spreads, bars, balls, sauces, and, drinks.

  • 2-5 years of experience taking products from concept to commercialization (required)

  • Familiarity with TGA products (desirable).

  • Strong understanding of food science principles, ingredient functionality, and sensory evaluation.

  • Experience with regulatory standards and food safety protocols (e.g, FSANZ, TGA).

  • Exceptional project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • A proactive, innovative mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality results.

  • A relevant Bachelor's degree.
