About the role

SJ Cheesman are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join their team in Port Pirie, South Australia. This is a full-time, permanent position that will see you operating and maintaining state-of-the-art CNC machinery to manufacture high-quality components for a range of industries.

What you'll be doing

  • Setting up, programming, operating and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts and components
  • Measure and prepare metal stock, adjust programs or tooling settings where needed, and make adjustments ensure parts meet specifications
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, diagrams and specifications
  • Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines
  • Ensuring all work meets strict quality and safety standards
  • Collaborating with the production team to optimise workflows and enhance manufacturing processes

What we're looking for

  • Relevant qualification in Machining or similar trade and at least 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Significant experience as a CNC Machinist, with a proven track record of operating a variety of CNC machines
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming, including G-code and CAM software
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to upholding high safety and quality standards
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team
