Position Title: CNC Machinist
Location: Port Kembla, NSW, Australia
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: Production Manager
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision components according to technical specifications. This role involves interpreting technical drawings and ensuring high-quality output while adhering to safety and efficiency standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and routers, according to production specifications.
- Operate CNC machines to produce high-quality parts within specified tolerances.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections of parts using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Identify and troubleshoot any issues with machine performance or product quality.
- Programming:
- Read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files to create CNC programs.
- Make adjustments to programs as necessary to improve efficiency and product quality.
- FANUC interface
- Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Report any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel promptly.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of production outputs, quality checks, and machine maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety and environmental regulations.
- Trade qualification in machining or relevant field (Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade preferred).
- Proven experience operating CNC machines in a heavy industry manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and CAD files.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills and a commitment to safety.
The role typically involves working in a manufacturing workshop environment. The machinist may be required to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, depending on production needs.
