Your day as an Economic Analyst
Your typical day-to-day work will include contributing to the delivery of high-quality advice and analysis to support government decision making, policy development and implementation. The role may include quantitative and qualitative analysis of economic and fiscal trends and projections, delivery of policy advice, or independent research around the most significant long-term challenges and opportunities facing NSW.
You will be joining our Economic Strategy and Productivity Group and will be working within the Macroeconomy Division. Read more about your future Group and Division.

Achieve success as an Economic Analyst
In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in economics, statistics, data science, public policy and/or equivalent experience.
- Ability to undertake quantitative analysis, including econometric modelling and data analysis, to support decision making, economic forecasts and/or policy advice
- Familiarity with statistical modelling programs, including R and Excel, or willingness and capability to learn
- Experience in providing advice on public policy and/or delivering policy analysis underpinned by data and economic evidence, ideally in one or more of the following areas:
- Economic policy
- Data analysis and econometrics
- Economic and fiscal modelling
- Effective verbal, written and visual communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in conveying technical and complex information in manners which are effective and appropriate to a given audience and purpose.
- Attention to detail, with personal accountability, time management skills and a pro-active, collaborative approach.
