We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Eye Care Services team as an Optical Purchasing Assistant

  • Based in either Lithgow, Orange or Bathurst
  • 5 weeks annual leave & 17.5% leave loading
  • Staff discount on health insurance
  • 6 months paid parental leave

About the role

As an Optical Purchasing Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our optical services by managing the procurement and inventory of eyewear, lenses, and accessories. You'll work closely with suppliers and internal teams to maintain stock levels, place timely orders, and track deliveries. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build effective relationships with vendors and colleagues.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder stock as needed.
  • Liaise with suppliers to place orders, negotiate pricing, and track deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, invoices, and inventory.
  • Collaborate with optometrists, dispensers, and retail staff to understand product needs.
  • Use inventory systems and Microsoft Office tools to manage data and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with WH&S policies and procedures.

Skills & experience

  • Optical qualifications or relevant industry experience (1+ year).
  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory systems.
  • Attention to detail and analytical thinking.
