About the Role:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and hands-on Environmental Compliance Officer to support the environmental performance and regulatory compliance of our operational mine site. This is a key role responsible for ensuring adherence to the Environmental Management System, conducting audits, and supporting environmental training and investigations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor environmental compliance and complete audits and inspections
- Promptly report and manage environmental incidents and investigations
- Ensure all statutory and internal environmental reporting is accurate and timely
- Provide advice and training on environmental procedures and controls
- Oversee waste management and drive sustainable practices
- Liaise with site teams to promote environmental awareness and best practices
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal systems (SHMS & EMS)
What You'll Bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or a related field
- Minimum 2 years' experience in an environmental role on an operational mine site
- Solid understanding of key legislation including the Environmental Protection Act 1994 and EPBC Act 1999
- Risk management and investigation competencies (G1, G2, G8, G9 – within 5 years)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
