At Osborne Richardson, we partner with leading local government organisations to deliver outstanding recruitment outcomes. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Principal Communications Advisor to take on a pivotal role within our client's Communications team.  This is a contract role from 25th August through until the 21st November with the potential to extend.

The Opportunity

This is a senior advisory position where you will provide strategic communications expertise, develop and implement organisation-wide strategies, and lead initiatives that strengthen reputation, community engagement, and internal communications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing strategic communication plans for major projects and organisational priorities.
  • Leading critical campaigns across internal and external channels.
  • Creating engaging and effective content for digital, social, and traditional media.
  • Advising senior stakeholders on reputational risk, crisis response, and proactive communication opportunities.
  • Overseeing digital communications, including website, intranet, and project platforms.
  • Partnering with diverse stakeholders including internal teams, government agencies, suppliers, and community groups.
  • Providing strategic leadership on transformation projects and change communications.

About You

You are an experienced communications professional who thrives in complex environments, with the ability to think strategically, manage competing priorities, and deliver impactful results.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications (or equivalent senior experience).
  • A strong track record in senior communications roles, ideally within government or a similar context.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise with experience leading high-profile initiatives.
  • A proactive, creative, and solutions-focused approach.
  • A current driver's licence, Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
