Principal Communications Advisor

Inner South-East Melbourne Council | 3-Month Contract | $70 ph + super | Hybrid

Public Sector People are partnering with a local council in Melbourne's inner south-east to recruit a Principal Communications Advisor for a 3-month temporary contract.

This role will see you provide high-level communications advice and deliver strategic communications initiatives across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans to support major projects and business activities.
  • Lead external and internal communications, including media engagement, digital and social media campaigns.
  • Produce creative content and manage updates across council's website, intranet, and project platforms.
  • Provide project management and stakeholder engagement advice across a complex mix of community, business, and government stakeholders.

About You:

  • Demonstrated experience in a senior communications role within local government (essential).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage sensitive and political issues.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
