Your Role:

  • Teach Visual Arts across Stages 4–6, including elective courses and senior HSC classes.
  • Teach elective Photographic and Digital Media to Stage 5 and Stage 6 Preliminary Photography, Video and Digital Imaging.
  • Deliver engaging, rigorous, and creative lessons that foster both technical skill and critical thinking in artmaking, art criticism, and art history.
  • Support students in developing bodies of work, portfolios, and exhibition practices.
  • Integrate a variety of media, technologies, and contemporary practices into teaching and learning.
  • Actively contribute to the creative culture of the school, including exhibitions, performances, and whole-school events.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessment, and reporting in line with NESA and school requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan programs, share resources, and contribute to the growth of the Creative and Performing Arts faculty.
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning and apply current pedagogical practice in the classroom.
  • Authentically integrate your Christian faith into your teaching practice through pedagogy and your interaction with students.
  • Engage in pastoral care responsibilities, building strong relationships with students and contributing to the wellbeing culture of the school.
  • Contribute to co-curricular and enrichment opportunities within the Visual Arts program (e.g., competitions, excursions, workshops).

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate at interview a personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with that faith, including an active commitment to a Christian fellowship, as well as the following skills and experience:

  • be a highly committed professional and have a desire to make a difference in the lives of students
  • be an excellent classroom practitioner, communicator and have solid classroom management skills.
  • proven successful experience teaching HSC Visual Arts courses;
  • be committed to academic excellence with high expectations of students
  • possess strong interpersonal skills, valuing relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • collaborate with colleagues in developing integrated learning experiences, be committed to their own professional learning and growth
  • be pastorally minded and comfortable with sharing their faith
  • have an understanding of the wellbeing needs of adolescents
  • be willing to actively contribute to the extra-curricular life of the College
