The Opportunity

About the Service
The Adult and Older Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing services, otherwise known as "Locals", are a key recommendation from Victoria's Royal Commission into the mental health service system. As such, the Locals are a key feature of the current system transformation.
The Locals will act as a front door to the mental health service system and will provide a continuum of care and support including clinical interventions, wellbeing supports, and therapeutic support through an integrated mental health and alcohol and other drug framework approach.
Mind Australia is the lead agency in a consortium for the Melton Local which comprises of IPC Health, Western Health, and Thorne Harbour Health. Our shared vision is a Local that delivers integrated support that puts the person accessing the service at the very centre of their treatment, support and care coordination using a range of evidence informed approaches. The consortium is committed to embedding lived and living experience and expertise within all aspects of the service including program design and evaluation, leadership, service delivery and governance.
Based at our Melton location, this position is a Full-Time ongoing Mental Health Clinician role and is classified as Level 6 under the Community Health Centre (stand-alone services) Social and community services employee multi-enterprise agreement 2022.
You will make a difference by
- Providing high quality one-on-one support to assist people you are working with to achieve their goals and/or address their mental health and/or drug and alcohol challenges.
- Supporting a caseload of people seeking service, your role will be to coordinate care with people with multifaceted needs with internal and external services dependant on the persons goals, needs and preferences.
- Using your clinical expertise and skills to competently deliver a range of evidence - based mental health interventions (including through care planning and review, therapeutic interventions such as CBT, DBT or motivational interviewing) individually and/or in group settings.
- Providing guidance to clinical and non-clinical staff (such as Community Mental Health Practitioners, Peer Support workers, and other specialist therapeutic roles) in relation to clinical issues and considerations for treatment, care and care planning.
- Providing a point of escalation and/or secondary consultation, particularly with service users who have multifaceted mental health needs.
- Demonstrating a commitment to system transformation and the role of the Melton Local to deliver services that meet community need and expectations.
To succeed you will need
- Current registration or professional membership within relevant discipline (i.e., AHPRA, AMHSW, AASW, PACFA or ACA)
- Qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Provisional Psych (under supervision) or other relevant discipline
- Current Victorian driver's licence − minimum two-year experience in the mental health sector including skills and experience in motivational interviewing, stages of change, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), trauma informed care, strengths and recovery focussed approach and clinical risk assessment
- Demonstrated clinical assessment, planning and implementation across a spectrum of acuity and across service intervention types in a timely way
