About You

·
Experience in the development and implementation of geochemical/physical sampling and analytical programs for the assessment of mine waste, soils and rehabilitation materials.

·
Experience in the development and implementation of field programs including field trials.

·
Knowledge and experience in using geochemical modelling software (e.g. GoldSim, PHREEQC and Geochemists Workbench, etc.) to support water quality assessments is advantageous.

·
Experience and knowledge of the development of water balance/water quality models for various mine site domains (WRD, TSF and pit lake) is advantageous.

·
A track record in project management of multi-disciplinary mining projects for senior positions.

·
Able to work closely with clients to achieve successful outcomes.

·
Knowledge of applicable Australian guidelines and standards for the assessment of acid and metalliferous drainage (AMD).

·
Experience in the development of mine waste cover systems and vadose modelling is advantageous.

·
Demonstrated relevant experience in a consulting environment and able to deliver projects on time and within budget.

·
Travel within Australia and internationally to various field locations may be required at times.

·
Ability to build long-term, successful relationships with staff and clients.

Be thorough, a high level of initiative, proactive, practical, innovative, versatile, responsible and capable to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

About the role

· Depending on the position, provide a supporting role or technical lead in the development and implementation of sampling and analytical plans for the assessment of mine waste, soils and potential rehabilitation materials.

· Supporting role or technical lead in the development of hydro-geochemical models to assess (amongst others) pit lake water quality, mine waste facility seepage, cover performance.

· Manage/ support geochemical aspects of multidisciplinary projects.

·
Mentor junior and intermediate staff.

·
Build and maintain client relationships and progressively develop new business.

· Assist with the design and development of customised experiments in the RGS's state-of-the-art laboratory.

· Develop mine waste management plans, progressive rehabilitation and closure plans, closure plans.

· Technical reporting and development of proposals.

Formal qualifications and Experience:

· A Bachelor's Degree in one of the following technical disciplines: geochemistry, earth sciences, environmental science, geology or soil science.

· A postgraduate qualification in a relevant technical discipline or a proven track record in a role and context of similar complexity (e.g. acid and metalliferous drainage, mine waste management, water quality modelling, acid sulfate soils, etc.).

· years' experience in consulting or in a similar role (e.g. research, industry, etc.).

Permanent resident of Australia or relevant work visa holder.
