Vault Cloud is the national leader of providing highly secure and scalable sovereign cloud capability to the Australian Government, National Intelligence Community and Critical Infrastructure sector. We pioneered the development of Australia's only sovereign, hyperscale cloud with security at its core, being one of the first cloud organisations to be Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) certified and we continue to drive innovation, delivering First of a Kind capability across the sector.
As we continue to lead in technological advancements, Vault is now entering a defining phase of growth with a strategic $22.5 million investment from the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC). This investment will scale Vault's SECRET Cloud and introduce new services such as the AUKUS cloud capability, directly addressing Australia's strategic national security demands. Vault is now positioned to not only strengthen its existing relationships with federal and state government agencies, but also strengthen its relationships with private sector businesses requiring secure cloud storage. To support this growth, we are bolstering our capability by adding numerous key roles that are integral to our future success. This is an opportunity to join us at the forefront of a once-in-a-generation technological advancement whilst at the same time securing the nation against ever-increasing threats.
Due to continued growth and the critical importance of our national infrastructure projects, we are expanding our operations team and seeking an Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join our Operations team. We prefer this role to be based in our Canberra or Sydney office, where you'll help manage, maintain, and enhance our cloud infrastructure supporting key regions – though remote arrangements are also an option.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading Service Configuration and Management to ensure Vault systems are consistent, secure, and aligned across all environments.
- Driving Deployment Management by enabling seamless, reliable delivery of new features in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Owning Infrastructure Reliability through proactive monitoring, performance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Upholding Security and Compliance by embedding best practices and meeting regulatory requirements across all systems.
- Fostering Collaboration Across Teams to align infrastructure capabilities with product needs and support scalable growth.
- Building Internal Capability by mentoring team members and championing modern DevOps and infrastructure practices.
- Ensuring Operational Excellence through effective incident management, change control, and alignment with business priorities.
To be successful you will be able to demonstrate with:
- The scope of this role requires an Australian Government Security Clearance; therefore, applicants must be Australian Citizens and have the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
- Strong hands-on experience in Linux systems administration and OpenStack/OpenShift environments
- Deep understanding of storage solutions like Ceph and Swift
- Demonstrated capability with automation and CI/CD tools – GitLab, Ansible, Terraform
- Solid knowledge of networking (e.g., Cisco, Cumulus, Fortinet)
- Experience operating in environments where uptime and reliability are non-negotiable
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and security to align infrastructure with business needs
- A passion for technology and security
- Flexibility to enjoy and thrive within a fast-paced, agile, and expanding scale-up environment
What's in it for you?
- Be at the forefront of cyberwarfare, the greatest technology challenge of our generation
- Up to 10% of time dedicated to learning & development
- 5 days of bonus leave per year
- Company paid parental leave
- A diverse culture where we celebrate our people and their unique, individual perspectives
You will collaborate to provide secure and professional cloud services to a broad range of users. Join us now and become part of the future of secure cloud services and provide a significant contribution to our nation's success.
