Eligibility

The opportunity
The Facilities Officer supports the delivery of facilities management services at CSIRO's Pullenvale site. The role provides logistical, administrative and coordination support to ensure effective management of facilities operations across a range of functions — from maintenance and contractor coordination to cleaning, security, waste, fleet, and general site services.

This role suits someone who is organised, proactive, and enjoys working collaboratively to help maintain world-class science facilities.

Your high-level duties will include:

  • Respond courteously and efficiently to client requests, maintaining clear communication regarding expectations and satisfaction.
  • Undertake a broad range of property-related activities to support the site or regional team.
  • Monitor and coordinate daily works undertaken by contractors, ensuring compliance with CSIRO's HSE, security and contract requirements.
  • Assist in scoping, scheduling and monitoring of works and services across facilities.
  • Participate in compliance audits, facilities condition reviews, and data updates.
  • Support administrative and financial processes, including work orders, invoice processing, and procurement compliance.
  • Coordinate site "soft services" such as cleaning, waste management, and grounds maintenance.
  • Participate in after-hours call-out and emergency response requirements, as needed.
  • Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to support CSIRO's operational and research activities.

As the successful candidate, you will bring:
Essential Criteria

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads, take initiative and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to identify areas for improvement and implement approved changes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn facilities management systems and software.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working in facilities management or a logistics environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise contractors and ensure compliance with contracts and statutory requirements.
  • Familiarity with facilities-based management systems (e.g., job logging, financial or building operations systems).
