Therapeutic Children's Worker
Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children impacted by domestic and family violence? At Dawn House, we provide crucial support to children and families, helping them rebuild and thrive. We are seeking a dedicated Therapeutic Children's Worker to join our team and contribute to our mission.
About the Role
As a Therapeutic Children's Worker, you will provide vital therapeutic interventions and emotional support to children residing in our refuge or accessing our services. You will work within a collaborative case management framework, ensuring that each child's health, educational, and wellbeing needs are met. You will also support mothers in developing parenting skills, maintaining a focus on the child's rights and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver one-on-one and group interventions for children who have witnessed or experienced domestic violence, supporting their emotional and psychological development.
- Collaborate within our case management framework to identify and address children's needs, providing referrals and support as needed.
- Work closely with mothers, offering education and assistance to enhance parenting skills and strengthen the mother-child relationship.
- Develop and implement in-house activities and school holiday programs tailored to the needs of children in our care.
- Maintain relationships with external agencies, ensuring children and families access the resources they need.
- Participate in the after-hours roster as required, ensuring the consistency and availability of our services.
About You
We are looking for a compassionate, resourceful individual with the following skills and experience:
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., a degree with two years' experience or equivalent).
- Experience working with children and families affected by domestic violence.
- Strong knowledge of child protection principles and mandatory reporting requirements.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads efficiently.
- Proficiency in using case management systems and a good level of computer literacy.
- A current NT driver's license and the ability to obtain an Ochre Card and a criminal history check.
Why Join Us?
Dawn House is dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for both staff and clients. We offer:
- An opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families.
- Ongoing professional development and support through supervision and training.
- A collaborative and respectful workplace culture where your skills and contributions are valued.
- A chance to engage with the broader community and be part of a team committed to best practices in therapeutic support for children.
