Principal Market Operations Specialist

About Us:

Jemena is an Australian energy company who own and operate more than $12.4 Billion worth of gas and electricity transportation assets across Australia supplying millions of households and businesses with these essential services every day.

We pride ourselves on our innovative approach, technical expertise, and dedication to safety, quality, and sustainability. Our Group's over 3000 team members, consistently strive to make a difference in the communities we serve.

At Jemena, we believe in the power of connection — between people, ideas, and energy.

We're shaping the future of electricity distribution, and we're looking for an experienced, thoughtful leader to help us bring digital innovation and integrity to the heart of the National Electricity Market (NEM).

As our Principal Market Operations Specialist, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our market-facing digital solutions are seamless, compliant, and future-ready. You'll collaborate with diverse teams, lead improvements across our systems and processes, and empower others through insight, innovation, and expertise.

This is a role where your deep technical understanding meets real-world impact.

What You'll Do

Champion Market Integrity

  • Lead the functional oversight of Jemena's digital market operations, ensuring every process meets NEM standards and customer expectations.
  • Advise and guide delivery teams on upcoming market reforms — from CER integration to future trading arrangements — shaping how our systems and people respond.

Partner and Collaborate

  • Work hand-in-hand with business, regulatory, and digital teams to design efficient, compliant solutions that serve both our customers and the community.
  • Represent Jemena in AEMO working groups, sharing your voice and expertise to influence fair, forward-thinking industry outcomes.

Drive Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and enhance how we work.

Enable Innovation

  • Encourage curiosity, creativity, and collaboration — supporting our people and partners to grow alongside you.

About You

You bring both depth and empathy to your work — combining technical confidence with an inclusive, partnership-driven approach. You'll likely have:

  • Solid experience in the Australian energy industry — ideally within electricity distribution, retail, or metering.
  • Strong knowledge of the NEM and processes such as MSATS, B2B messaging, and metering data management.
  • Experience working across regulatory, business, and IT teams to deliver complex, high-integrity solutions.
  • A curious mindset and a drive to simplify, innovate, and connect.

It's even better if you also have:

  • Experience with AEMO or AER market reforms, CER initiatives, or smart metering programs.
  • Experience with integration architecture, data platforms, or automation tools.
