The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced API Software Engineers to support a major Federal Government transformation program. This role focuses on developing efficient, scalable, and secure APIs that connect enterprise applications across the organisation.

You will collaborate with system analysts, data engineers, and cross-functional project teams to design, test, and optimise API integrations that ensure reliability, performance, and security. These engagements provide a rare opportunity to contribute to nationally significant ICT programs that underpin Australia's democracy.

MUST BE AN AUSTRALIAN CITIZEN & HOLD NV1 SECURITY CLEARANCE

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain secure, high-quality APIs (C# / RESTful).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integration solutions.
  • Apply authentication and security protocols (OAuth, JWT).
  • Conduct testing (unit, integration, regression) and code reviews.
  • Monitor and optimise API performance and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues.
  • Document API endpoints, specifications, and deployment processes.

About You

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Proven experience as a software developer with C# and API frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and best practices.
  • Experience with authentication, integration patterns, and databases.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure services (Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps).
