Somawansa Transport is a proudly family-owned logistics company We specialise in refrigerated freight, steel and concrete transport, agricultural logistics, and heavy vehicle operations.

As we continue to grow, we're seeking a Finance Controller to support the financial management of our operations and ensure the business remains on a strong and sustainable path.

The Role

This is an ideal role for a parent seeking work during school hours, a semi-retired professional wanting to stay active in a rewarding or someone looking for a part time, flexible position. You'll play a key role in managing the company's financial functions while working closely with the Directors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations (accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reporting)
  • Develop and maintain budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow systems
  • Ensure compliance with all tax, BAS, and superannuation requirements
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for management review
  • Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, and financial institutions
  • Implement process improvements and strengthen internal financial controls
  • Provide insights and strategic advice to support business growth

About You

  • Degree-qualified in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (CPA/CA highly regarded)
  • Previous experience in a financial management, controller, or senior bookkeeping role
  • Experience within transport, logistics, or trades industries will be highly regarded
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero, or similar accounting platforms
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive with a hands-on approach
  • Able to work independently and manage flexible hours effectively
