The Opportunity
The Level E Professor of Actuarial Studies is responsible for providing outstanding academic and strategic leadership to advance the Monash Actuarial Program. This role drives excellence in research, teaching, and professional engagement, shaping the program's vision and strengthening its national and international profile through meaningful collaboration with industry, government, and the broader academic and professional communities.
The Role
The role provides leadership in delivering innovative actuarial education, guiding curriculum enhancement, and mentoring academic staff and research students. You will lead major research initiatives, secure competitive funding, and foster collaborations with industry and professional organisations. You will also contribute to the advancement of the actuarial profession through high-quality publications, policy development, and active representation at national and international forums.
About you
The appointee will hold:
- A doctoral qualification (or equivalent accreditation and standing); and
- Fellowship in the Actuaries Institute (Australia) (or equivalent)
The successful candidate will possess a distinguished record of scholarly contributions to the actuarial discipline, underpinned by a sustained commitment to advancing high-quality research of national and international significance. A proven capacity to secure competitive research funding, to provide academic leadership in postgraduate programs, and to supervise doctoral candidates to successful completion will be essential.
In addition, the appointee will demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching, coupled with effective leadership and management capabilities, and highly developed communication skills. The ability to foster enduring collaborations with industry, government, and professional organisations will be a defining feature of the appointment.
