As a result of being a research initiative of Macquarie University, MultiLit's publications, professional development and Literacy Centre are continually informed by an ongoing program of research. The research team is led by Dr Robyn Wheldall, Director of MRU.
About the role
The Research Administration Officer provides administrative support to the coordination of MultiLit research, school and outreach projects administration, including the administration of standardised and curriculum-based assessments.
The position is four days per week and based in MultiLit's Perth office. It would involve travel to different testing sites across Perth as required.

- Preparing project documentation including forms, correspondence, approvals and permissions, under the direction of the MultiLit Research Unit (MRU) manager(s)
- Liaising with schools, parents and project partners, as required
- Conducting standardised and curriculum-based assessments
- Scoring and checking assessment protocols
- Computer entry/checking assessment data and maintenance of project databases
- Assisting with scheduling casual MultiLit testers for data collection phases of MultiLit projects.
- Establishing and maintaining project filing systems and coordinating the sharing of data with the MultiLit Centre in Sydney, under the direction of the MRU manager(s)
- Assisting in the preparation (including editing) of proposals, applications and research reports, as requested.
Essentials
The skills, qualities and experience required for this position include the following: -
A degree (or in progress) preferably in education, special education, psychology, neuropsychology or speech pathology is desirable
Effective communication skills
Proven administrative, organisational and time management skills
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Highly proficient in MS Applications including Word and Excel
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Ability to follow detailed instructions
Ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines, with a high level of attention to detail
Ability to work in a confidential environment
Experience working in a research environment and/or experience undertaking standardised and curriculum-based assessments is desirable;
Current WA Driver's License and access to a vehicle (remuneration for mileage applies)
Current WA Working With Children Check
Experience working with children/students is desirable
