#Acareerthatmatters. #Acontributionthatcounts
Everyone at our Department recognises the importance of a healthy environment. Whatever your job with us, you'll strive and innovate to achieve a better Queensland. Our role is complex, and our work can be challenging - important work usually is. But your contribution will count and so will you. Can you lead and work well in a team? Do you have experience in environmental compliance activities? Can you communicate with influence with a variety of stakeholders. If so, we want to hear from
YOU.
This Opportunity
Are you ready to write a new chapter in your story? Our organisation values its people, respecting and embracing diversity and a balance between work and life commitments. Our staff are passionate about delivering outstanding environmental services to the communities throughout our diverse State. We have an opportunity for a Team Leader (Compliance), within the Environmental Services and Regulation (ESR) division of the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation. In this position you will work closely with the Compliance Delivery Manager to lead a dedicated and professional team that will be responsible for managing day-to-day planning, operation and support the team to meet its objectives and will have responsibility for key deliverables, while contributing to the implementation of environmental management and protection strategies and promote compliance with environmental legislation, regulations and policies.
We want
YOU
to join our team and contribute to our Vision.
In This Role, You'll Find
- A purpose and a challenge that matter:
This is a rewarding opportunity where you can help shape Queensland's environmental compliance sector. Your work will certainly be challenging and contentious at times and will involve a healthy amount of detailed compliance inspections But it's work that truly matters, perhaps even more so because it's hard.
- Passionate, positive, down-to-earth people: Reporting to the Compliance Delivery Manager, you'll collaborate with an engaged and enthusiastic team, liaising with others to balance the needs of our stakeholders and environment. Our commitment, courage and curiosity unite us, and we believe our differences are what make us great.
- Diverse, interesting work and experiences: You'll find yourself traveling across the state to build an in-depth knowledge of the compliance industry and its stakeholders. Your daily work will be unpredictable, often impacted by urgent and complex issues. You'll need outstanding agility, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills to tackle and solve these issues.
- Opportunities to learn, discover and grow: You'll have the opportunity to build your capability within a supportive culture. Working in the challenging arena of front-line compliance activities, you'll be well equipped for future progression opportunities across QLD.
- A collaborative, innovative environment:
You'll be part of a team of hard-working professionals in a genuinely welcoming, safe, and positive workplace. Here, we encourage one another to share our experiences so we can all learn, grow, and innovate.
You'll have the following work skills and experience (which define what you can contribute professionally):
- Experience leading and working as part of a team to achieve operational deliverables in a regulatory service delivery environment.
- Proven ability to communicate with influence, to:
- Motivate, develop, and engage staff,
- Lead negotiations to resolve complex matters and
- Manage stakeholders.
- Understanding of (or the ability to rapidly acquire), contemporary environmental and regulatory legislation, trends, drivers and approaches.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capability in rapidly changing contexts.
Enjoy the benefits of being an employee of DETSI such as:
- Flexible work arrangements and Accrued Time Leave, giving you the opportunity to balance your career to suit your lifestyle.
- A 36.15-hour week.
- 4 weeks paid annual leave.
- An environment that supports family commitments.
