This is a Social Work Level 3 position. However, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflects the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.

What You'll Be Doing

Step into a role where your skills, compassion, and trauma-informed expertise directly help children, young people, and families heal. As a Child Protection Counsellor in the Moree Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) team, you will:

  • Provide medium to long-term therapeutic interventions (3–18 months) for children and young people aged 0–18, and their families
  • Deliver trauma-informed, culturally competent counselling and casework services
  • Work collaboratively within a small, highly supportive team of four, backed by the broader Community Health and district-wide VAN network
  • Support recovery from trauma, strengthen family functioning, and reduce future risk

Who You Are

We are looking for a motivated, resilient, and compassionate practitioner who understands the complex impacts of violence, abuse, and neglect on children, families, and communities.

You'll bring:

  • A qualification in Social Work and eligibility or membership for general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Prior experience delivering culturally appropriate, trauma-informed services and programs
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and time-management skills
  • A collaborative, professional approach and strong work ethic

Additional Information:

    • Based on a minimum 18-month commitment to the position or the agreed duration of your contract. All payments to part-time and contract employees will be made on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the terms of your contract, including any approved extensions. Please note: if your contract ends before the agreed completion date, you may be required to repay a portion of the incentive.
