Werribee Secondary College is located in Duncans Road, Werribee, a 30-minute drive from the Melbourne and Geelong central business districts. Ample free staff parking is provided on site. The Werribee Railway Station is located just 10 minutes away by foot. The College currently employs over 150 staff including Principals, Leading Teachers, Learning Specialists, Classroom Teachers and Education Support. THIS POSITION COMES WITH 6 WEEKS PAID ANNUAL LEAVE.

This position has as additional attendance of 20 days during school vacation periods (1 week per holiday period)

IT SENIOR SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

ROLE DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

The IT Senior Support Technician at Werribee Secondary College will be a proactive and skilled individual who, as part of a team, supports the College's digital learning environment through the maintenance and development of ICT infrastructure. Along with providing timely end-user support and managing devices and networks, the role is central to coordinating, tracking, and following up all ICT jobs and ongoing works to ensure efficient resolution and progress.

ICT

  • Log, monitor, communicate, and resolve support requests through the college's help desk system in line with established processes including supervision and follow up of works.
  • Provide timely and effective front-line technical and ICT support to staff and students, including responding to helpdesk requests and resolving ICT issues.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain ICT devices and equipment including desktops, laptops, iPads, printers, projectors, and audio-visual systems.
  • Undertake system and network administration tasks such as user account management, software updates, and backup procedures.
  • Support device deployment and management through platforms including FOG Server, Jamf School, and Microsoft Intune.
  • Maintain and update the ICT asset register, including asset tagging, monitoring, and auditing of equipment.
  • Assist in the administration and maintenance of school servers, switches, wireless infrastructure, and security systems including CCTV.
  • Ensure ICT practices and infrastructure comply with Department standards and policies, including EduSTAR networks and software requirements.
  • Provide technical support for school-based events, presentations, and online assessments such as NAPLAN.
  • Contribute to ICT projects that enhance digital learning, teaching, and operational effectiveness across the school.
  • Liaise with Department staff, external contractors, and technology vendors as required.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to ICT staff when delegated, and assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the ICT Manager

  • The range of duties may be expanded at any time in the future or as directed by the Principal or Operations Manager in accordance with ES1-3 dimensions of work.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Demonstrated capacity to supervise and support ICT staff when delegated, work collaboratively as part of a team, provide leadership in the absence of the ICT Manager, and work independently with initiative when required.
  2. High-level communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to provide effective communication and ICT support to staff, students, and other stakeholders in a customer-focused environment.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in supporting ICT systems including Windows and Apple devices, networks, servers, and cloud services.
  4. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve a wide range of ICT issues effectively and independently.
  5. Understanding of ICT in educational environments, including 1:1 and BYOD programs, Department of Education and related systems (EduSTAR, Compass, TSSP), ability to assist in staff ICT professional learning and commitment to own professional development.
