Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Qantas Airways Ltd Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Job Description

  • Drive business change to improve productivity, value and operational efficiency for key Group Procurement and business initiatives
  • Act as a subject matter expert for critical procurement programs and processes
  • Permanent, full-time position based at Qantas Corporate Campus in Mascot

At Qantas, we represent Australia to the world. Our diverse country is known for our spirit, mateship, and a can-do attitude. We are resilient and strong. We see change as an opportunity to improve. We thrive in uncertainty and are ready to jump into action at a moment's notice. As a team, we rally together like no other, making each other feel supported.

Our Group Procurement team sets the strategic direction for the Qantas Group's procurement activities and drives value across our supply chain. We establish the governance frameworks – including policy, standards, and processes – that underpin procurement discipline, and we manage the Group's supply chain assurance program.

We are transforming our systems and processes to deliver a better buyer experience, strengthen compliance, and unlock new efficiencies.

The Procurement Operations Specialistplays a key role in this transformation. The Specialist oversees the day-to-day administration of our supply chain risk and assurance program, and drives business change by designing and implementing processes, systems, and training programs across the Group. The Specialist provides expert advice to internal stakeholders, manages operational issues through to resolution and delivers insightful data analytics and reporting.

You'll have:

  • 5-10 years' experience in procurement, supply chain or a related commercial role, ideally within a large, complex organisation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in technology, finance, sustainability, or a related discipline
  • Exceptional ability to influence, negotiate, and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear and actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive transformation and improvement initiatives, including the use of data analytics and emerging technologies such as generative AI.
  • Advanced capability in analysing data, interpreting trends, and presenting findings and recommendations in a professional, compelling manner.
  • Strong IT literacy with the ability to engage confidently with systems and technical specialists.
  • Commitment to responsible procurement practices, with an interest in sustainability and ethical sourcing in the supply chain.
